Our business is about caring for the community, especially people living in rural areas and informal settlements. We help businesses in our communities to grow by making it easy and convenient to buy airtime, data, electricity, and other essential prepaid services wherever you are. And we work with our local communities to solve social and economic problems.
Here are some examples of our social investment projects:
The CoCare Voucher is an SMS voucher issued to vulnerable households to provide relief during the COVID-19 crisis. It can be redeemed for essential goods at any spaza shop in the Kazang network and other retailers. The voucher can be exchanged for food and hygiene basics, including vegetables, cooking oil, flour, tinned vegetables, fruit, long-life milk, rice, bread, instant coffee, sugar, pasta, sanitary products, baby products and cleaning products.
Kazang partnered with the Mahlasedi Foundation to facilitate the delivery of much-needed food parcels to households in need during the COVID-19 lockdown. We have delivered more than 30,000 food parcels so far, and the number grows by the day. Anyone with a wheelbarrow and a smartphone can register as a delivery agent for food parcels, earning R20 per delivery. Agents can redeem their delivery fee directly from Kazang spaza shops in the area.
Miss Malawi Cape Town was established in 2014 to promote the talent, culture and beauty of the Malawian community in Cape Town. Kazang joined forces with the organisers to promote and sponsor Miss Malawi Cape Town 2019.
