Business Intelligence Analyst



A vacancy exists for a Business Intelligence Analyst within the Kazang – Micro Merchant Division, in Century City, Cape Town.

The Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for analyzing data, generating insights, and providing actionable recommendations to support decision-making. This role involves gathering requirements, building data models, creating effective visualizations, and conducting data analysis to identify trends and opportunities. The ideal candidate is a proactive individual who can work autonomously and has a solid background in BI tools and techniques.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Gather and analyse big data across our Lesaka brands with a primary focus on our International and Touchsides Business Units.
  • Source, clean, and integrate data from various internal and external sources.
  • Develop and maintain data models, schemas and reports independently.
  • Create comprehensive and insightful data visualizations (reports and dashboards) using BI tools (e.g., Looker Studio, Power BI).
  • Perform ad-hoc data analysis to support business needs.
  • Communicate complex technical information effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Write clear and well-structured business requirements/documents.
  • Influence stakeholders to support business projects.
  • Communicate and validate requirements with relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with different departmental teams to produce better business outcomes.
  • Identify automation opportunities.
  • Assisting with the restructuring of the data architecture.
  • Technical workshops for other staff to upskill them in understanding power BI and data querying.

In order to be considered for this position, the following requirements must be met:

  • Experience in a BI role with a focus on data sourcing, modelling, and visualization.
  • Proficiency with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Business Intelligence or a related field
