Can you tell us about your role?

I am a Senior Legal Advisor in the Legal Department for the Lesaka Group. Our team, under the leadership of a brilliant Group Legal Manger, services all of the subsidiaries within the Group. My role consists of legal research in the financial regulation and corporate commercial space, drafting legal opinions on the viability of innovative new products, drafting and negotiating agreements for the launch of new products, and reviewing agreements in the M&A space.

Why is your role and the legal department so important at Kazang?

Given the Lesaka Group’s listing on both the Nasdaq and JSE, the applicable regulatory universe and public scrutiny towards the Group; the legal department is vital to ensuring the Lesaka Group’s compliance with the law, as well as enabling the Group to grow and expand within the realm of the law, both organically through new product innovation and inorganically through acquisitions, while doing so ahead of our competitors within the fintech industry.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Kazang?

To put it simply; two things: (1) our team; (2) the work we do.

Our team is young, diverse, dynamic and fun. More importantly, we challenge each other to grow both personally and professionally, while simultaneously looking out for one another.
